Day 11

Matthew Chapter 11

Daily thought to go along with each day’s reading.

Matthew Chapter 11

Daily Thought

Matthew Chapter 11 begins with Jesus finally allowing himself to be recognized as the Messiah. From there he quickly moves on with authority to call out by name people groups that had denied his sovereign power. Just as quickly Jesus then offers some of the most beautiful verses in the Bible telling all of us to come to him who are weary, and he will give us rest. This is a condensed version of how life in the Spirit works. First, we come to a knowledge of who Jesus is, then we allow him through the Holy Spirit to correct us where we need it; at the same time, we are given blessed peace and rest while the Spirit does his work in us. How thankful I am for a savior that allows us to rest in him no matter what work he calls us to.
