Day 24

Matthew Chapter 24

Daily thought to go along with each day’s reading.

Matthew Chapter 24

Daily Thought

42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”

Are we ready? There is no confusion in the above scripture that we must be ready for the return of our Lord. That just as someone would keep watch over their home if a thief were coming, we are to be prepared and ready for the coming Messiah. Do we love others like we are ready? Do we spend time in the Word like we are ready? Do we devote time to serve in our church as if we are ready? If faced with judgment tomorrow, do we live today as if we are ready? Matthew 24 reminds us that no one but the Father himself knows when the time will come; therefore, we must always be steadfast in our faith. This scripture challenges me to live a kingdom-minded life daily. Always to keep before me that there is an enemy who wants to steal my time, my attention, and my faith. Just as we would keep watch for the thief, we must keep watch for the enemy’s attacks and live ready for our coming King. Are you ready?
