Matthew Chapter 3
I read Matthew chapter 3 over and over. A short but powerful chapter giving the account of the baptism of Jesus. As I closed my Bible I watched my baby girl play in her seat. She played, then looked up at me, then continued to play, then looked up again at me. It was as if she knew she was playing and having fun but needed to be sure I was near. Matthew 3:16 & 17 are describing the moment Jesus was baptized; immediately Heaven was opened, and God stated how pleased He was with His son. One thing I realized today in my studies and reading was just as my baby needed and desired to see my face looking upon her, so did Jesus. We see countless situations in the Bible where Jesus cries out/prays to His father, and I wonder if we are doing the same.
When was the last time you spent genuine time with your Father? When was the last time you felt the heavens open, and you felt the presence of God bringing peace and joy upon you? My prayer today is that each of us can take a moment to meditate on what the moment would have been like when the heavens opened, and God proclaimed His joy and satisfaction with Jesus. Take a moment today to feel the Spirit of our living God holding and giving you His joy and peace for your faithful service. Remember that you are loved, you are chosen, and if we rest in His presence, He will be well pleased with us.
